The purpose of Futures Unlimited, Inc. Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) Program is to provide individuals from Livingston County with the training, assistance, and support they need to live as independently as possible in our community. The intention is to provide residential stability to persons living either in a home of their choice or the natural family home. An array of services is provided to each individual, based on individual needs and desires. All components of the program are designed to promote independence in daily living, economic self-sufficiency, and community integration. The agency currently provides 24 hour support to 22 individuals from Livingston County. These homes are in residential neighborhoods throughout Pontiac. This program is funded through the Illinois Department of Human Services.
INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT OPTION (ISO) CILA SERVICES In
2006 we were pleased to partner with the Illinois Department of
Human Services (DHS) Division of Developmental Disabilities to
establish one of the first Individual Support Option (ISO) homes in
Illinois. The ISO model was established under the principle that
adults with developmental disabilities lead happier, more successful
lives if given the opportunity to live in smaller residential
settings of 2-3 people. Presently, community residential services
for adults with disabilities are limited to larger congregate
settings of 6-8 people per home. Could you imagine having to live
with six other people that you did not get to choose? In the spring of 2006, DHS gave us the green light to develop an ISO home for Mike and Brian. With the help of Brian’s parents, a home was secured and the guys moved in within a few months. Staff are available to support Mike and Brian in their new home and to assist them with shopping, getting to work, and just having fun! Since the opening of the ISO home, several other agencies and parents across the state have contacted us about this exciting new initiative. We hope the success of our ISO home will lead to significant changes in residential services for all adults with developmental disabilities in Illinois.
INTERMITTENT CILA SERVICES Intermittent CILA services are provided to individuals throughout the County who do not require 24 hour support. Individualized supports are established based on the person's desires and needs. This service is funded through the Department of Human Services. |
