Employment Services
The Employment Services (ES) program provides individualized services like classroom and specialized training, job placement assistance, work readiness and job skills training.
Job Placement
Futures Unlimited partners with the Department of Human Services and the Division of Rehabilitation Services to provide employment seekers with services like:
- Evaluation and Assessment
- Application Assistance
- Resume Development
- Job Search Assistance
- Employment Referrals
- Job Retention
In 2018, 52 people were assisted by the Employment Services program to obtain jobs in Pontiac and surrounding areas with an average wage of $9.54 per hour. The jobs were in areas like:
- Factory Labor
- Packaging
- Retail Cashier
- Restaurant-food service
- Janitorial
- Personal Care
- Ag/General Labor
- Waitress
- Bus Driver/Transportation Labor
Supported Employment
This program provides intensive support to learn employment-related skills and the soft skills necessary for job success. Job coaches assist individuals to obtain employment, learn specific job tasks, and assimilate to the worksite. They also specialize in helping workers with disabilities perform the tasks of their jobs successfully. This includes providing intensive monitoring, training, assessment and support to workers and facilitating healthy working relationships between management and co-workers.
In 2018, 12 people received Job Coach assistance to successfully work in the community. The average wage earned was $9.83 per hour for individuals in this program, and the jobs were in the following areas:
- Food Service
- Retail
- Janitorial
- Factory/Ag Labor
Vocational Training
Futures Unlimited provides opportunities for individuals to receive hands-on experience in learning vocational skills to prepare them for the workforce and help achieve success in the community. This provides training opportunity for individuals looking to obtain permanent employment within their community. Many individuals in this program have had great success in obtaining employment with the skills they have acquired.
