Prairie Horizons Apartments are managed by Futures Unlimited,
Inc. in conjunction with The Institute for Human Resources. Prairie Horizons
Apartments were built in the spring of 1995. The U.S. Department of Housing
& Urban Development issued a $1.1 million grant to provide for this
new housing for mentally and developmentally impaired individuals in Pontiac.
Prairie Horizons Apartments are located
at 1510 and 1520 South Locust Street in Pontiac, Illinois. We have 16
individual one bedroom apartment units and there are eight apartments
in each building.
Rent for Prairie Horizons residents is subsidized through the U.S. Department
of Housing & Urban Development. All rent is based on 1/3 of the tenant's
income and assets.
All utilities are paid by Prairie Horizons. Tenants only pay for their
apartment, TV cable, and telephone line.
Laundry facilities are provided in each building with a washer and dryer.
Parking is provided in front of each building and garbage bins are provided
at the end of the parking lot.
Prairie Horizons Apartments are very secure with all entrance doors locked
at all times. There is a door buzzer system at the front door of each
building.
Prairie Horizons has an outdoor patio area between the two apartment buildings
and a basketball court in the back.
There is a common room in each building for tenants to entertain and socialize.
This room is equipped with a TV and games for the tenants.
All tenants go through bi-annual apartment inspections and must have an
annual review of the lease and monthly rent review.
